Reflections and Thanksgiving Gratitude

If there’s a way for me to express the combination of pride and gratitude I feel for Dollars and Sense having been selected by BAFF (Big Apple Film Festival) this Fall—I’ve yet to be able to locate it’s definition. The quality and depth of variety that I witnessed watching the short films included in our Dramatic Short Films Block was impressive and, in many ways, humbling.

Our fellow filmmakers focused almost entirely on complex human interactions. Families attempted to understand each other; often while being challenged by the threat of outside elements. People met their fears with the kind of emboldening that so often comes with the need to protect loved ones—while others found their hopes dashed by the machinations of self doubt and fear. Few films had tidy resolutions, and ambiguities and visual poetry made for a wealth of emotional involvement.

So, thank you, Jonathan Lipp, Director of Big Apple Film Festival. The Festival’s seminars inspired us. The feedback we’ve received has validated our enterprise and encouraged our forward movement. We’re already gearing up with our next steps in networking and business building plans. It was an honor being chosen as a selection in this Fall’s prestigious line-up of films.

We want to extend our congratulations to our fellow filmmakers who were represented in Drama Shorts Block One:

Tai Chunn, Paul Lacovara, Katrina Cebreiro, Julio Valenzuela, Bonnie Mckee, Evan Owens, Niousha Noor, Oscar Rodriguez Gorriz, Debra Markowitz, Lori Shockley, Vergi Rodriguez, Diana Zollicofer, Fatty Soprano & Shutterr and Ethan Erickson

I also would like to once again thank those of you who so graciously applauded Dollars and Sense after your having visited the Festival. You continue to bolster our initiative. This year’s Thanksgiving will indeed be a special holiday. We intend to toast you at our table.

Be Well.

Stay engaged.

And, please join me here again December 3rd—that’s one week from Thanksgiving—for my next Vlog!

For now, I plan to appreciatively nestle in the warmth of my BAFF afterglow—a sweet digression, indeed.
