Festival x2

I’m thrilled to announce our having been included as an Official Selection by The Culver City Film Festival. The Festival  takes place December 4th -10th on the Shorts Daily Roku Channel.

If you missed the chance to see Dollars and Sense at The Big Apple Film Festival, we hope that you’ll consider joining us this time at our newest venue. All of us at Char-Len and Bay One Entertainment want to extend our continued thanks to those of you who’ve shown such stabilizing support during this exceptional adventure. The seeds that we planted three years ago have harvested wonderful rewards this Fall.
I thought it a good idea for me to celebrate the project’s inception by sharing portions of our  three year exercise that led us to this juncture. We hope that by sharing we’ll inspire you to take your own first step in creative productivity. Slow and steady...

Be Well...

Stay engaged.

Concept

Dollars and Sense” was originally presented as “Sense” in a section of John Alban Coughlan’s play, "Of Lives and Leaves" as produced by IncoacT in 1996.  Shortly after meeting with Director Nick Bradshaw, the two worked tirelessly to bring “Dollars and Sense” to life in this new medium!

The Sense Behind the Dollars

Dollars and Sense is a meditation on parents and children.  Freely adapted from a story by Anton Chekhov; a prodigal son returns home and attempts to share his success with an uncomprehending father—a man who measures success and happiness on very different terms. The soup is served, the bread is broken.

We are both professional union artists and serious students of film aiming to take you with us on a human journey. There are more like us who prefer people over  procedurals. We hope that the few minutes spent with our short film will linger like a moving melody.

With You To Guide Us

With your help “Dollars and Sense” will act as our FLAGSHIP PROJECT for a an ambitious enterprise providing opportunities for talented young filmmakers. The cost of a film school education can be an overwhelming prospect financially, and there are plenty of skilled young directors out there looking for an opportunity to prove their talents on professionally helmed projects of merit. Therefore, we are aiming to provide talented young filmmakers that very opportunity to express themselves in an economical, non academic environment supported by professional crew members and actors. By helping us with “Dollars and Sense,” you’ll play a big part in fostering a generation of directors interested in making films in sharp contrast to our current cultural trends. We need to see more evocative, emotive film making! “Dollars and Sense” will provide us with a significant tool to represent this goal by helping us to seek future funding for this larger-scale project’s full realization.
