IN AWE OF TWO Daunting DAWS
I’ve been hired to produce my first Audio Book via ACX (Audiobook Creation Exchange). It’s a wonderful volume of poetry. But, I’ll admit that all roads leading to this have been a bit daunting. Lots of curves came with my learning two new Digital Audio Work Stations. ACX has necessarily strict guidelines. And, even though the Char-Len Booth has been in operation happily since April of this year, I’m still only a slightly seasoned newbie when it comes to sound engineering and a total novice when it comes to mastering my Mastering. So, I’ve no small debt of gratitude.
Three great tutors who I’d highly recommend, Matt Straub, Guy Veryzer (Links to work: Etsy site, ACX Profile, and Books) and Tatiana Grey (you can see Serious Laundry for free on Amazon Prime), have guided me through ever repetitive questions with therapeutic patience. They’ve been almost saintly—gently nudging me closer and closer to comprehending the ins and outs of complicated technologies. The occasional lack of oxygen I experience when inside my well padded booth/cell has helped to keep the whole experience almost psychedelic.
There’s lots of pretty colors to be seen on these systems and a myriad of opportunities to play around with stuff! But, I remain diligently focused in my attempts to learn in two weeks what normally would take a minimum of two months to try to undertake. And, today I’ve been given the vote of approval by both the author and production company —Done Deal!
So, trust yourselves and toast your synapses. You don’t have to jump into the deep end without your water wings. But if you do, rest assured...There are angels here who’ll guide you towards their safe and higher ground. Now’s the time!
