Big Apple Film Festival (BAFF) is screening Dollars and Sense November 13-15!

We’re thrilled to celebrate Dollars And Sense having been chosen for screening for this year’s Big Apple Film Festival!  $12 gets you access to Dollars and Sense and 14 other short films for the entirety of the festival (November 13-15). This year’s event will be held both virtually and at the Demarest Drive-In just outside of New York City. This honor is a prestigious one. BAFF is one of FilmFreeway's ‘Top 100 Best Reviewed Festivals', and is dedicated to showcasing, highlighting and promoting the highest quality films from the New York City independent film community, as well as additional specially selected films from across the country and around the world. I speak for our  cast and crew—Nick Bradshaw, Aaron Gaines, Glenn Bassett, Phillip Bevers, Nick Glichrist and Blake Rozelle—in expressing our boundless gratitude for having been honored this way.

Please afford me a bit of background digressing...

The play was very freely adapted (some would say too freely) from stories by Anton Chekhov and was originally produced by IncoacT (In The Company of Actors), a not-for-profit theatre company headed by myself and Chuck Blasius. Indeed, the play —perhaps subconsciously—acted as a springboard anchoring itself to my own personal conflicts at that time. Nonetheless, I succeeded in setting the right Chekhovian tone in establishing the kind of wry sensibility found in drawing fine lines between joy and sorrow. Years later and after a series of revisions, it became apparent to me that a section of the play that I called SENSE was no longer pertinent to the new thematic scheme we were developing. Still, the excised piece held a place dear to my heart. 

But, I digress...I’ll get into that territory a bit more next week.

For this jubilant week we celebrate SENSE’s reincarnation as the Sag-Aftra Short,  DOLLARS AND SENSE and it’s having found a home this month in the BAFF. We could not be happier.
